| Corporations, LLCs, and registered Limited Partnerships doing business in District of Columbia must continuously maintain a Registered Agent with a physical District of Columbia street address (a PO Box alone does not qualify). The agent may be an individual resident of District of Columbia or an entity authorized to do business in District of Columbia, must be available at that address during normal business hours to accept service of process, and receives official state notices on the entity's behalf. The exact eligibility rules, consent/appointment procedure, and change-of-agent process are set by District of Columbia statute - see the official statute link below for the controlling text. |
